consid\u00e9rables de r\u00e9\u00e9quipement, et r\u00e9alisa un chiffre d\u2019affaires \u00e9lev\u00e9. La p\u00e9riode de troubles de 1960 \u00e0 1965 provoqua une chute brutale du trafic. Apr\u00e8s relance, l\u2019ann\u00e9e 1968 fut la meilleure de toutes celles qui ont suivi l\u2019accession du Congo \u00e0 l\u2019ind\u00e9pendance.En 1971, sous le vent de la politique du recours \u00e0 l\u2019authenticit\u00e9, l\u2019OTRACO devint, l\u2019Office National des Transports (ONATRA). Le 2 d\u00e9cembre 1974, \u00e0 la cr\u00e9ation de la Soci\u00e9t\u00e9 Nationale des Chemins de Fer du Za\u00efre \u2013SNCZ, l\u2019ONATRA lui c\u00e9da son r\u00e9seau ferroviaire du Kivu et du Shaba, mais garda provisoirement la gestion du Chemin de Fer Matadi \u2013 Kinshasa (CFMK) et celle du chemin de fer Mayumbe (C.F.M).En 1975, le l\u00e9gislateur lib\u00e9ralisa le transport fluvial, retirant \u00e0 l\u2019ONATRA le monopole de l\u2019exploitation, et autorisant \u00e0 toute personne physique ou morale \u00e0 devenir armateur.
